Free income tax clinics for low-income individuals and families with simple tax situations
- trained volunteers prepare and file income tax returns
- offered year-round in Brockville, and seasonally at other locations in the area:
- in partnership at CSE Consulting in Kemptville and Prescott
- in partnership at Kingston Employment and Youth Services (KEYS) in Gananoque and Elgin
- Eligibility
- General public/All persons who meet the following income criteria:
Income must not exceed:- $40,000 for a single person
- $55,000 for two persons
- $60,000 for three persons
- $65,000 for four persons
- $70,000 for five persons
- An additional $5,000 is added to the above for each additional person
Interest income must not exceed $1,200
Volunteers only complete returns for simple tax situations. A tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources:- employment
- pension
- benefits, such as Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, disability insurance, employment insurance, and social assistance
- Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)
- scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
- interest (under $1,200)
Volunteers are not expected to answer complex tax questions. If a taxpayer needs information that is beyond the volunteer's expertise, they can find more information on the website or contact the Canada Revenue Agency

- all t-slips received for your income (e.g. T4, T4A, T4A(P),T4A(OAS), T4E, T3, T5, etc.)
- T5007 form, received for:
- social assistance
- worker's compensation
- disability pensions
- last year's rent receipts or property tax bills
- all medical receipts
- all charitable donation receipts
