- Description
Specially trained nurses are available on-call 24 hours a day through the Emergency Department at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) for anyone who has recently been assaulted. Otherwise, visits can be scheduled at the clinic.
An individual chooses which care is right for them. Cultural and religious beliefs will be fully respected. Police are not involved except where required by law or if specifically requested.
Counseling is available for people who have experienced sexual trauma or abuse in the past.
Pediatric sexual assault assessment (age 12 and under) is available through a referral by Child and Family Services.

- No restrictions. All genders are served.
- Application Process
- Recent victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence are recommended go to the Emergency Department for assessment and medical treatment by an on-call nurse, or call 705-743-2121 ext 0.
People who have experienced sexual assault or domestic violence more than two weeks ago are recommended to call the Women's Health Care Centre for an appointment (all genders).
If the sexual assault victim is a child, first contact police or Child & Family Protective Services (CAS). They can arrange for a Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to see the child urgently if needed, or can book an appointment during daytime hours. Contact the nurse on call for the PRHC Sexual Assault program if you have questions or need advice.
